During last weeks issues I did state that we would be starting a series of articles here were we would be sharing with our audience more information about mental health in collaboration with the mind watch foundation and this week we had one of the volunteers at the foundation tell us all about parenting and mental health (be sure to subscribe to our news letter for more 💪)
Topic;
“How Parents can create a safe space for their children to freely talk to them about mental Health”
Mental health problems range from things like anxiety, worry, overthinking, depression to mention but a few, and a few experts and recoveries have attributed “sharing and talking about it” as a recovery mechanismic
Often time's when you come accross a depression Post" on social media, and you look through the Comment section, you see people/ "young people" Sharing their experience with it and how Talking about it and prayer helped them overcome.
Then there those advising the person who's facing depression to find someone to talk to, and share their worries, anxiety, feelings and emotions to.
Look, This is all good advice but the only wrong thing about it is what if the person going through this has no one to talk to? What if they have no one to confide in? What if they are too afraid to share or talk about it with anyone? What if they don't have friends or Relatives that they will truly trust with their insecurities?
They overlook this fact in
Here is where parents Come in;
Parents are often times the closest and
realist people in our lives (children's lives). Parents know and see their children in all stages of growth from childhood to adulthood. A parent wishes nothing but the best for each of their children, I'm sure we all know this.
Some parents create a free room for a dialogue with their children while some don’t?
This stems from upbringing.
How parents handle their children as they grow. Do they get involved in their childrens
experiences, are they involved in their children’s lives? Do they ask whenever they see some thing different or changes in their children's lives?
OR;
They are never involved in their childrens lives, They ignore all the red Flags and changes in their children’s lives.?
Are they too tough on children and heavily punish them for their negative experiences? Do they create room for dialogue to share their Children's experiences?
These among other things determine whether a child will be open to sharing and talking about their problems and experiences with their parent's
Therefore parents should;
Get involved in their children’s lives from an early stage.
Do not ignore red flags and changes in their children’s routines and behavior.
Ask questions like How are you doing, how was your day, this alone shows concern and would
let anyone open up.
Get involved in your child's life. More than just a parent, be a friend to your child.
Understand and encourage your children when they fail or do not accomplish or do not live to your expectations of them.
Do not shame them for their failures and this will make them Confide easily to their parents.
“A parent can make or break a Child.”

mental health....👨💻👩💻
you may want to share this
over the past couple of months my interest in providing safe spaces and educating my friends and I on mental health has grown tremendously, and because of this I have been able to create a better head space for myself and some of my friends and family, and in my effort to make it even available for a larger audience I did sit down with the founders of mind watch foundation ( a new non profit organization that deals with mental health awareness and help) to discuss what the foundation is about and how they plan on impacting society........(dont forget to subscribe to our newsletter for amazing lifestyle content ).
first off I was informed by Patrick the head and cofounder of the foundation that the initiative was as a result of him having been through a state in his life were he needed Someone... to talk to about mental health and as a man society doesn't actually create that room for many men to speak about issues concerning emotions, so he together with ms .Novy founded the mind watch foundation to fill the gap they felt was created for the various people that needed the attention due to mental health challenges.
According to research a good number of the LGBT community, and men are very prone to suicide and are receiving very little attention due to discrimination and walls built by society so I had to inquire if the mind watch foundation was any different and was to work with all sort of individuals and to my surprise Novi a cofounder of the foundation stated that since each and everyone of us is likely to suffer from mental health problems them we all should be able to access professional help, meaning the foundation is working with and on each and everyone regardless.
I did also take time to ask for a few of the most common issues they are dealing with and they stated that depression which is mainly because of the negative impact of covid has taken a toll on the masses, many people are losing jobs ,loved ones and opportunities and its forcing them into sadness but luckily they have a good number of professionals (some who have volunteered ) ready to listen and work out Issues with you.
ps: you can as well volunteer with them by dm via there various social media sites,
the volunteers are also given counselor training
so it's a win win...... (pic belongs to Ms Novy co founder mind watch)
additionally I did ask how we could help ourselves maintain a stable mental health and the following were recommended
1. having a supportive family and friends to talk to
(pic belongs to Patrick co founder mind watch )
2 . meditation
and that's a wrap.....be sure to check them out of Instagram twitter or Facebook they also have a WhatsApp number you could text incase you feel like you need some professional help (most of the services are free) but if you feel like you need personal therapy you can get it at a very affordable rate, ❤️.

social media sure is fun,from cute animal selfies, friend get togethers,celebrity lifestyle is really a mix of everything fun but how often should you unplug and take a break from the century's biggest invention.....
usually i take breaks from my socials every month for about a week and i have recieved a few questions about it so i thought i could share with yall the benefits of taking some time of social media, for starters i am a small content creator which means i earn off content creation,posting on social media and uploading posts on my blog (thanks for the support) but again my mental health is more important than a quick dollar and here is why... see every time am on the net i get to see successful content creators, business people,tiktokers and at first its very inspiring right it gets me moving and working instead of just wishing i was apart of the crew but more times than one i find myself comparing myself to these stars ,i find myself doubting if i will ever make it because am not as talented or as good looking i start to think my business will fail because am not as entertaining or famous and it all gives my mind a freeze i stop to function, i stop to come up with ideas and sometimes just cry and want to give up...see while other boys may like to play soccer ,get a good paying job ,grab a beer, and all i want to live in a loft creating content ,traveling every when i get the chance, collaborating with brands and growing my skincare line but as a small creator it gets difficult so taking time off social media gives me sometime to rethink my craft, plan my day and improve myself without comapring my self with anybody else, similarly i would advice anyone to take a break from thrre social media atleast once every two months to refresh and rewind from the constant struggle of being perfect and keeping up with trends. what do you think?
