The past couple of years have taught me alot about myself,  patience,  friendship and pretty much everything in life.

Ever since 2022 I have hard a single different quote for each year to help me hold through.  And while I was setting up my mood board and goals for this year ( which I highly  encourage yall to do )
I was thinking soo hard on what my quote this year would be.
I for sure knew it wouldn't align with anything  to do with applying pressure.  I applied enough pressure the past 365 days.. we all did... we need to rest, we need to live in the moment,  we need to apply grace.

And there it was... letting go. Giving into the unknown. Trusting that the universe is doing your bidding.
Working hard knowing your reward already rests upon your shoulders. That is my 2024.

I am letting go of worry, of anger, of the need to be wanted, of the need to prove myself.

I am letting go of self doubt, self sabotage,  and self harm.

I am letting go of wanting to be in control....
Everything that doesn't serve my higher self.

2024, I am letting go.

Gifting always seems a bit hard from a distance,  what should I get them? Will they like it?
Well its important to remember that it is firstly the thought that counts.. the idea that you pre meditated getting someone something is soo sweet and secondly the best gifts are the ones that are personalized to ones tastes, yes there may be this game that every boy at school is speaking about... but your son is into music, it would make more sense gifting them a guitar than the above said game.

That being said we still need guides from which we can base what could  work best for whom we are trying to charm...

That is why I did come up with womens gifting guide for anyone looking  to gift a special woman in their life this festive season but don't be limited as the mens gifting guide is also up.. be sure to check it out too. Some people do love to go shopping  in items that are generally marked for other genders and thats typically taste...

The kids gifting guide is also live, but don't forget to get yourself something too,

Its been a rough year, only you could tell what has gone down the last couple of months .

Don't forget to unplug and spend time with your loved ones this festive season 🥑......
Until then,

On my quest on bettering my vision on the American lifestyle I did come in contact with " seasonal depression ". Now I already  knew what depression was.. but that in some cases it was seasonal?  Now that was news.

Visiting a place and living in a place are two completely  different ideas.. when I first visited the usa I thought I had seen the ways of the people but now that I have lived amongst them I keep learning and unlearning. When the temperatures  drop and the sun starts to set at 5, as a good chunk of the population cheers and starts to decorate for the holidays another is getting worried as seasonal depression starts to creeep in...

With many public areas less frequented  and many people opting to stay home where its warm many people find themselves isolated which results into one of the deadliest phenomenon of our time... depression.

Now if you were someone that was already prone to this chances are the cold season is not making it any easy for you. Similar  to most I fall under the said category.

I cant say I have been depressed. Atleast not in the passed 6 months... ( 2022 is a different conversation but I have been working on my mental health ever since).
And since its my first winter most times my mind wonders to my siblings and friends that are thousands of miles away.
Do we text and call each other regularly.. yes but some times like today I crave a hug.. and to just be amongst  people that radiate positive auras, no judgment just vibe.. so how do I go about  it?

Figured I could share few ways you could TRY to combat seasonal depression.

1. Keep yourself busy.
I am lucky to have started work just in time.. that way I speak to a variety of people during  the day and God do I have the best co workers.

2. Speak to someone about your situation.
I feel like many of us are afraid of judgment... but what is the worst that could happen? Tell someone that you feel alone and maybe they could have some tips for you...

3. Hang in there...I know I say this alot but... you belong., you are beautiful,  kind, smart and amazing... and I am soo proud of you.

I once read a tweet that read..... I refuse to just go to school, work then die... I resonated soo much with it...

I refuse to just exist... I refused to go to a job I hate and live a miserable life...

But it is very easy to find yourself caught up... its been 2 weeks since I landed my first job 8 hour job and to speak that my life has changed is an under statement... you can't just visit places and go places anyhow anymore... every thing needs a schedule and prior planning...

That is how I ended up missing 2 weeks worth of youtube content because  I didn't know what day of the week it was anymore.

I quickly had to get on my zoom, I love my job but I also want to keep it that way... if I lose my self in it... I would start to hate it. So I had to come up with a work - life  balance 🐣.

1. Set up alarms..
I know it sounds crazy but you will be surprised how quick time runs  when you doing what ever you are doing so set up alarms so you can know when to unplug and do what ever .

2.  Learn to separate work and life time. I do acknowledge that its easy to over lap the two especially for those that don't work corporate  but you are going to have to know when to switch on your work mode.

3. Be soft on your self.. when you feel like you genuinely need a break, take a break.

4. Find a way of making your work fun
Buying designer apparel is existing,  rocking the same brands as some of your favorites could be a good way to treat yourself.. but are you doing it right?

Luxury brands just like any other corporations provide a wide range of products across the lifestyle, beauty and fashion scene but what makes them stand out are their century old histories, amazing craftsmanship and celebrities endorsement....

It is important though to note that each of these companies started off by selling one major item which later made the brand famous propelling it to diversify its
catalog... Louis Vuitton for instance has always been a go to for the best leather bags right from the start... therefore even now.. the best place to buy designer luggage would be Louis Vuitton.  On the other hand owning Louis Vuitton jewelry would be a joke.. because as much as their jewelry is of great quality..it was never their specialty.... that would be left out to cartier  or Tiffany.
That is to say each of these ateliers has something it was originally known for as as someone that loves to look and feel good equipping yourself with the knowledge of the brand before you get it is key....
Most of these brands aint just brands.. they are a lifestyle.... but its also  crazy of one to own Ralph lauren bed sheets whilst you and I both know it is known for its bespoke mens wear...

Important also to note is wearing head to toe designer is often an amateur move.. its advisable to pair your luxury items with beautiful retail wear a little here and there

Whilst shopping for colognes its wise to realize your favorite base notes before hand. All perfumes smell nice but which one appeal to you most is mainly based on character...some are soft and floral, others are loud and spicy, some just mild enough to notice from close around...creating a signature scent would come from masking a few of your favorite to create the one.

We all have a dream lifestyle and thanks to capitalism we have to work ( that is if you weren't born into wealthy or royalty or both 😂).
Its no secret that a good number of people want to change their jobs, some want promotions others just entering the work force.

The key to your dream job is first of all its availability but also most importantly your compatibility with the role you seek to fill.

If that brand you have dreamed of always working at has open positions but you ain't ready then you going to miss out on your dream lifestyle....

As someone that recently moved and got into work in a completely different environment here are a few tips on how you could be ready for that job...( be sure to share with a friend)

1. Update your resume.
I am not kidding if anything for everyone specific set of roles your resume should look a certain different way and possess certain qualities.... make sure you are up to date with any must have qualities before you submit.

2. Just Apply,
Yes many times the roles we admire seem as though they are far from our reach, if a job requires 3 years of experience but you have 2 apply. What is the worst that can happen?  Or... hear me out what is the best that can happen?
So if you want it and believe you can do it and its for you... apply.

3. Always add a cover letter. With the evolution of hiring process  many brands have dropped or made cover letters optional and because of this many people apply without them therefore adding one to your resume sets your application aside..

4. Add recommendations
Yes grab your favorite teachers, former fellow  employees , employers every one and add them on there.

5. Be ware of frauds...
Yes people are taking advantage of those seeking employment by advertising fake jobs online .... I spoke about it more here

6. Don't be shy to bargain for a higher pay during negotiations if you feel you are worth that much..

7. What is yours will always come to you.... 1,2 ,3 denials don't mean you are incompetent... they just weren't for you and its fine...

8. You got this 🥑

Signing up for activities just because I was feeling left out was not always my gem. If its one thing that I parade of myself its that i can't be tricked, forced or peer pressured into doing anything
.  But this time was different.  Seeing all your close friends get into relationships, really changes your view on them.
During high-school I dare not think of lovers. It was something I laughed at, maybe its because I knew it wouldn't last (and I wasn't wrong 😂) or maybe because I had my guard on for fear of rejection or a heart break. But whatever it was I will forever be thankful that I didn't get to be in that mess.....(love as yall know it)
But after high school it was different,  my closest friends where going on dates , having late night phone calls it all seemed so fun and who doesn't love a little attention here and there.....

I can easily say though that letting my guard down was one of the worst decisions I made that year 😂. Now don't get me wrong I am a 22 year old virgin and have never been in a relationship so nothing crazy happened except for the fact that I was proved to that all my fears were real.
People using you, being a score mark its endless.

Now does that mean I don't like love ...no  ofcourse it doesn't.  If anything that one talking stage really showed me that I am a sucker for romance and I do in fact  wear my heart on my sleeve that is why I had to have my guard on even more fastened than before.

Being single all this while is the most rewarding thing I have done for my body ,mind and soul (and to each their own.....)

I love that I get to live each day as it comes, I have given myself time to learn what I want and educate myself on how to be better, communicate better, all that.

I love that I have learnt to give myself the love, respect,  care and grace that I yarned to receive from others and in that my heart has grown and my soul flourished.
my first date ever was a solo date... it was everything I ever imagined... art gallery, then wine with yellow roses.....(all for me by me )

I say all this to mean, if you are single now... enjoy it. Take yourself on dates, bake yourself your favorite dessert.
Go to pottery school do what ever excites you as a person stop waiting on anyone to live.
What if that person never comes? What if tomorrow never comes?

As global econmies continue  to grow... monetization of various activities that were once just regarded as hobbies has taken centre.
Many of us today have thought of or actually monetized a hobby we once done only for fun and relaxation.  This doesn't only help you to cash in while doing what you love but also makes it easier as it's not really seen as "work". I have personally taken my passion for writing and visual story telling into becoming a lifestyle blogger and content creator something that has helped me secure a college admissions and also diversified my earnings.... but how are others doing it?
Today I did have a sit down with  a one Mr Ricky Rwanjwogyera alias uptown prince  whom  was known  for his love of music ,poetry in his earlier days in school and later got into film making that he has mastered as he continues  below......

You see, I had a passion for film, and I considered dropping out of school to pursue it. However, fate had a different plan. I discovered that Makerere University offered a prestigious bachelor's program in film, setting me on a path that merged my artistic talents with the world of filmmaking.

Fast forward to the COVID-19 era, and an unexpected twist propelled me further into this exciting journey. Friends approached me with an unusual request – they needed fake money for a film shoot. Intrigued, I not only assisted them but also became part of the project. Little did I know, this experience would become a pivotal moment in my evolution.

Our skit, which I contributed to and acted in, garnered attention on platforms like TikTok, amassing followers and views. The catch? I didn't own an iPhone, which I had learned was the key to creating top-notch content. Undeterred, I patiently waited for my friends' schedules to align so we could shoot. In the meantime, I honed my storytelling skills, meticulously crafting scripts, and envisioning hilarious scenarios.

But there's more to this journey than meets the eye. Budget management, creative brainstorming, and the pursuit of perfection played a pivotal role in my transition from social media skits to filmmaking. Each step was a learning experience, fueling my passion and determination to create compelling films.

As I ventured deeper into this world, I found myself irresistibly drawn to the magic of filmmaking. My story is a testament to the boundless possibilities that emerge when you follow your artistic instincts, adapt to the tools at hand, and embrace the unexpected twists that life throws your way.

Join me as I share the behind-the-scenes insights, challenges, and triumphs of my journey, illustrating how one can evolve from creating smartphone videos to becoming a filmmaker with a unique and inspiring story to tell.

Until then chao...

The entertainment industry though very lucrative is very alien to many of us that want to do more than just enjoy, for someone to want to break it into the acting scene especially when all the actors , directors and sound engineers are close knit colleagues how does one get in ? Is it even possible?  Can one really get i to acting in Uganda?

We did have a sit down with shali  renowned fashion model that has recently gotten their foot into acting and he shares his tips on how , when and why you should be watching his new project in the acting space plus how you could be in on the fun as a want to be actor,

1: One has to start with branding on socials  cause that paves way for the casting directors and production house the see what you do or look for you .
2: The competition is stiff cause uganda is blessed with alot of talented actors so you gotta bring  your' A 'game all the time .

3: Yes one needs acting classes cause they help to polish you
4: One of the biggest challenges for actors is to be believable and truthful cause audiences are very good at seeing fakes.
5: I'm thrilled to be part of this incredible telenovela called "Beloved" am playing a role of "Vince " A leaf about my character "Vince is a famous actor and a great inspiration to many young people " this tv serie is aired on pearl magic prime Dstv Ch 148 & Go tv Ch 303 every week day (8:30pm) i want to take this opportunity to thank (Allah )first , the producer "Mr Nathan Magoola " , Mrs Nantogo Justine , my directors , the crew (Ava juliet) , family ,friends and fellow actors for making me a star .

20 years from now. You would give anything to be your age, exactly this healthy, and have this time again. Do you some main character sh*t before its too late.
Thats a quote I read from a reel as I was scrolling through my socials as I had my wine  this morning.. it shook me up like all those other motivation quotes I see.
Its like it was directly speaking to me.

We put our lives on hold as we seek so much from outside we forget that everyday that passes never returns.
You want to go on a date with a significant other? Want someone to apologize,  want someone to listen and validate you? Or you planning a trip but you keep postponing because you don't have who to go with and you afraid you made be bored on your own. Question is how long will you keep waiting and leaning on other people?
How long till you realize you are the main character of this script,  that every when the sun rises and you open your eyes its a chance to your greatest desires.
That your presence and effort are divine  .

Sadly no one can bring that out in one except for themselves,  I have been taking it upon myself to be more alive...
I stopped waiting on the "person" to finally come so I can plan and go on dates... now when I have a cool idea of a date I go by myself... (and I have met the coolest people while at it)
I romanticize my life,  I take me some wine  every now and then.  My skincare is always prepped and ready to use...
I mean sometimes I do forget and fall back into my old self where I just exist through the day and before I know it a month has passed but I always try to hold on...

Journaling has been very helpful with easing my communication, listening to old music that I loved growing up.

Smiling at strangers and complimenting them.
Always lifts my spirit too.

Obviously life will always have its difficulties,  some we don't even deserve and can never heal from but are we to let that weight pull us down from living our lives?

Personally.....NO I pick me.
My happiness, my joy, me.

Being an international student comes with alot of expenses.. so I spend a good time of my day looking for deals and good sales as I don't want to compromise my tastes because of costs.
One thing people my age (self included) love to splurge our money on is some good tech.
If I want a new phone I will stop at nothing until I inbox it at my apartment 😂. But how do we get good and durable tech on a budget all year round ? That is how I was introduced to refurbished tech.
This pre loved (owned ) tech is gotten from its previous owners as they upgrade to newer models, its tested , remodeled and resold to anyone that would it and a greatly cheap price. I came down this rabbit hole as I looked for a new phone to gift myself for my 21st. I badly wanted the Samsung s23 ultra but the price of a new one could send me into orbit....until I came across the blackmarket website. (Discount code at end)
Now because of the name I was skeptical.... I have had things about black markets... what if they took my money and never shipped my phone? But no that wasn't the case... they simply named the brand so its easy to find and based on the reviews I was ready to place an order...
They had a wide range of products from Mac books, Samsung phones, iPad, iPhone, name it all brands they had it.
I also tried to look around and came across PLUG TECH (black owned ) which had better prices for the Mac books and watches.

Overall I learnt that buying used tech doesn't only save your wallet but also the planet, less water is used to renew a phone than make a complete new one (you would be surprised by the numbers)

So what you think? You will give it a Try? Also Don't forget to use code ; 6a41eb69527654cb
At black market so as to get extra 10% off orders.

In today's digital age, it is easy to get lost in the world of technology. We spend hours on our phones, laptops, and TVs without even realizing how much time we are wasting. However, reducing the time spent on these devices can have numerous benefits.

Firstly, excessive screen time has been linked to various health problems such as eye strain, headaches, and disrupted sleep patterns. By reducing our screen time, we can improve our physical health and well-being.

Secondly, spending less time on screens can lead to more meaningful interactions with family and friends. Instead of scrolling through social media or binge-watching TV shows alone, we can engage in activities that promote socialization and strengthen relationships.

Lastly, reducing screen time can increase productivity and creativity. When we limit distractions from technology, we have more time to focus on tasks that require critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

In conclusion, while technology has undoubtedly made our lives easier in many ways, it is important to recognize the negative effects of excessive screen time. By reducing the amount of time spent on phones, laptops, and TVs, we can improve our physical health and well-being while also fostering stronger relationships with those around us.
